Emotions in Shots

Melanie's Shots

I really liked the Close-up shot especially because of the nice soft music that demonstrated her piano skills. Although a close up of her face may have been able to demonstrate her emotions more, filming it from that angle helped me feel more connected to the music in a way since I could see her hands hold down on the piano keys.

The Extreme-Long Shot was also done very nicely as I could clearly see the landscape beneath the airplane. I find that sometimes when I'm on a plane and I try to record what's below me, it often comes out with the sun's glare or it's even too dark so I found that to be impressive.

The high angle also makes the audience feel small because the view below is so vast. This could be used as an establishing shot since it shows a landscape.
The Full shot, although brief, was very entertaining and did include Emily's entire body and her walk. The camera could've been a little more steady, but I understand it was a candid shot so that was bound to happen. Actually I could feel the playfulness and the mood of the scene simply from the angle and the unsteady angle.

The Cameo Shot is definitely one of my favorites because the lighting creates an effect of isolation and drama and makes it looks professional.

Daniel's Shots

First of all, I really just love, love, loved his Follow shot, not only because this starts off the storyline but because this type of camera shot is one of my favorites (not kidding), and he did his really well. It made me feel apart of the story as if I was actually following him.

I also liked the use of the Over the shoulder shot to film the conversation with his sister, doing exactly what it was supposed to do, emphasize the dialogue and in a way give us the other character's perspective of the conversation. This shot also showed the close relationship between the characters because of the dialogue and the angle.

The High Angle was also impressively done, I also like that unique shot but I probably would not have been able to it myself at my own house, considering the height requirements. I got a feeling of the environment of the scene since it was filmed from above and since there was not much else in the scene but Daniel, I could focus on what he was doing and saying.

Now the Long Shot was my least favorite only because it was the only one without dialogue, but of course it still conveyed the emotions I think he wanted to capture in the shot and the camera was stable as well. I was able to feel the emotions being portrayed and also see the location of the scene which helped me to understand the context better.
