Brainstorming our Project
In my chosen group for the movie opening, there is Tori Ragin, Daniel Morales, and Melanie Reynoso.
While the first time we talked about the ideas we had for the project was Thursday, Daniel and I had already brainstormed a bit ourselves.
Daniel, very early on, got inspiration from a singer that released a few songs that were related to a love triangle. He told me that his idea was to actually let the story in the songs play out and I thought that this would be a great idea for a film opening, because not only does it could it fall under different genres (romance, drama, teen), but it would be relatively simple to produce, rather than trying to create something more over the top, and it not coming out the way we wanted it to.
Daniel basically explained this idea to our group and Melanie shortly came up with a few ideas of how this would actually look. Melanie even looked up a few movie openings that she thought we could use for inspiration and sent them all to us. For example, one of the videos she sent was from a TV show called Insatiable, and it opened up the show with a montage of clips, that was voiced over by the main character. Then, Tori suggested that we do something like that for our film opening and everyone else agreed and added to that idea.
We also discussed who we were going to ask to act in our project, which although is not essential to know so early in the production, is probably going to help us narrow down what we can and cannot do for the opening, in terms of filming location, costume design, and dialogue.
While we did not really assign roles in the project just yet, I said that I wanted to behind the camera in some shape or form and suggested that at least Melanie help with the script because she seems to have good ideas.
By the end of our little session, we used our original ideas for this opening in combination with the suggestions made by Tori and Melanie to come up with a plan for putting the whole thing together.
