Film opening moodboard

My group's film opening is essentially about a girl, Betty who gets her heartbroken by her boyfriend, James. James broke her heart by having a summer fling with another girl, August while they were still together. James is now trying to win back Betty and wants nothing to do with August, while Betty feels the same abut him.

In my moodboard, I tried to capture all of those emotions as well as to create a feel of what each of the characters might look like and behave.

Because of the main theme of heartbreak and teen romance I included a ripped picture of a couple on the bottom center, who would represent Betty and James, two images of a girl crying, to represent Betty, and a picture of a boy lighting a rose on fire, as well as a text message quote, representing the lost love. The ripped picture of them, which hopefully will even be a prop in the movie opening, symbolizes Betty and James’ former infatuation with each other now having come to an end and clearly the pictures of “Betty” crying represent how heartbroken she is over this situation, implying she doesn’t want to see James at all. The picture of the text draft also though, shows that Betty still cares about James, even though he hurt her. Now for Betty as a character I put a picture of what I think she would look like in the right bottom corner and an outfit I can imagine her wearing in the very middle of the moodboard. Moving on to James, I also included an image of what I imagine him to appear as on the left side, in addition to an outfit I would picture him in in the left bottom corner. This creates the sense that James is very easy-going and perhaps even careless. Then for August, the sort of a bad-girl who started this whole debacle, I put a picture of a potential outfit in the left top corner and what I imagine her to look like on the very right of that. In terms of settings, at the moment my group and I have planned scenes to be in Betty’s bedroom, at her mirror, on the sidewalk in front of her house, and in August’s car, so I included pictures of all of those things.
