Our first day of filming

This past weekend, my group and I started to film our movie opening. Going into it we planned to not use any of the shots we would take that day as we just wanted to feel out the location and process, kind of like a trial run, to work out any kinks and see if we could perfect it the next time round.

For the first set of scenes, which take place in Betty's room and would capture all the props that show the audience that she's going through a breakup, we used Amberina's room to try to take this shot. We did take a little bit of time doing this though, so timing is something that needs to be improved. Here is a still shot of "Betty's'" bedroom. We are still deciding if we are going to keep the LED lights on for the actual filming.

The next location we tried to shoot was the front door scene, where Betty and James would be having a conversation. Planning on taking a POV shot, from Betty's perspective, of her walking towards her front door to meet James, we filmed that. But, that proved more difficult than expected as it came out a little shaky. The conversation scene also consisted of the audience seeing James and Betty's faces throughout, so we utilized the over-the-shoulder shot for that scene and found that the actors' acting skills could also do with some work.

This is a still shot of "Betty's" front door, James would be on the other side of it.

Our very last shot, of the tilt from August's car to the sky, had to be done because some of us had other places to go and we were running behind schedule. The goal was to see how the speed of the shot should be because although this is a fairly simple shot to film, since it is going to be the last shot of the film opening, we wanted to make sure it looked good. This is a still of the sky.
Since we didn't have time to film the scene or try out filming the scene of August and James in the car, we will do this in our next session. After the next session, we'll most likely just see if we need to reshoot on a third day because after seeing what we did wrong and right this time around, I think we'll be fine to make a final product the next time.
