The Supporting Characters
In my group's film opening project, For the Hope of it All, which is still undergoing the process of editing, there are two supporting characters, August and James, alongside the main character Betty, all of whom I've mentioned before.
James, who is played by Daniel, can be described physically as a Hispanic-American 17 year old boy, of around Betty's height (slightly taller than average) with dark, brown wavy hair, as well as brown eyes. Throughout the entirety of the opening, James is wearing a red sweater with white and black stripes, black jeans, and white Tommy Hilfiger shoes, we thought this would match James' personality because like Betty, James is just your typical teenager.
The props associated with James are simply the flowers that he brings to Betty's house as he begs her to talk to him about what's happened between them, the what being the fact that he cheated on her with August. Of course, the flowers represent how much James cares for Betty, or at least how much he claims to love her.
James as a person is popular at school, athletic, and generally nice but is immature and doesn't always take other people's feelings into account. This was shown as he betrayed Betty, whom he was in love with, by cheating on her over the summer. However, he also still cares for Betty because even though she broke up with him after finding out about his summer fling from a mutual friend, he still wants to try to make amends and get back together with Betty, even if it takes begging at her doorway. Also, though not as shy as Betty, James isn't much of a talker either.
In conversation, James talks very softly and sweetly to Betty, trying to oil his way back into her heart, even though he usually never spoke to her like this when they were together. On the contrary, when speaking to August, James speaks in an aggressive tone of voice, not holding anything back and talking straightforwardly because he no longer cares for her and has a grudge against her for being the reason he is not with Betty anymore.
